How We Are Governed

People often conflate the organizations, so it is worth stating plainly.

Rocky Mountain AI (RMAI)

The nonprofit governance entity. RMAI holds the legal entity, the finances, fundraising and sponsorship, and fiduciary responsibility for the community. It does not run events.

Rocky Mountain AI Interest Group (RMAIIG)

The community that delivers the programming. Founded and led by Dan Murray, with its own executive committee and student board. Subgroup leaders run their own Meetup pages and communications. RMAIIG operates under RMAI’s governance.

Governed by volunteers, funded by community

No one is paid to govern RMAI. Board and committee service is unpaid, and the money we raise goes into programming, including paying the instructors and coaches who teach our workshops. Our filings are open for anyone to check.
